The two buildings, one a garage and the larger a 1,500-square-foot shop, were designed for a Chicago couple’s secluded weekend farmstead. The structures are trussed portal frames anchored to exposed concrete piers. The sheathing is western red cedar, some double-coursed. The colorful wood doors were custom made. Each building is planed on a 12-foot module, two for the garage and three for the shop. The non-structural end walls allow each building to be expanded longitudinally
